In Loving Memory Of

Picture1.png

Pauline NEWMAN

She was a vibrant and larger-than-life personality and she will stay in all our memories for a long, long time.

Pauline was such an integral part of the Gladstone Eisteddfod Committee that we will feel her loss in so many ways. Not only was she the linchpin that kept us all moving forward but she was such a good mentor and friend to each and every one of us. She was also so good at getting others involved and was always looking out for new ways to grow the Eisteddfod and increase participation.

She will be remembered as one of the truly genuine people with whom you knew exactly where you stood and what to expect – a rare trait to experience in our world today. She will be remembered not only as the Secretary of the Gladstone Eisteddfod Association but as a person who could handle any situation or conflict with her dry wit and sense of humour.

Her ability to think laterally was such a bonus for an organisation such as an Eisteddfod where the best laid plans can often go awry and things are not always linear!

Rest in peace, Pauline, knowing that you will be sorely missed but that what you did for us and the community of Gladstone was valued and appreciated.

Judith SAMUELS

Her contribution to the Performing Arts community both personally and professionally will be a sad loss. She will stay in all our memories for a long, long time.

The Gladstone Eisteddfod Committee would like to acknowledge the very real and special contribution Judith made to our group.

We valued the fact that Judith always spoke openly and gave her honest opinion, in a manner that was designed not to offend but to inform. We admired her for the way she met every obstacle head-on with intelligence and thought to the future. Her clear-thinking made her a wonderful contributor to meetings

and planning sessions. Her unflappable demeanour, good humour and dry wit will also be sorely missed.

Judith was a regular attendee at meetings, even when her health was failing and gave of her time generously. Despite her many other commitments, the hours she spent preparing the over 2000 scribe sheets needed yearly, were invaluable. She also allowed us to use her rooms as a collection point for trophies and this was of immeasurable help to us each year.
